When I left the condo to have lunch a few days ago, I noticed that the grounds were wet so I brought an umbrella. The plan then was to have a leisurely walk to Rockwell. Halfway, the skies poured buckets. The umbrella I chose was useless. I was wet at the back and decided to seek refuge in the first roof that was convenient. Soaking wet, no more Power Plant Mall and the restaurant I was in will have to do for lunch.
Howzat Sports Bar on Kalayaan Avenue was my refuge from the heavy rains.
The restaurant isn't hard to miss since the frontage is covered with so many banners.
Some refrigerated items are displayed by the entrance.
Howzat Sports Bar is a popular destination among expats when popular European sports are being telecast live. Even during the wee hours of the morning the bar can be packed with cheering crowds.
The condiments are neatly placed in a nice basket.
I started my meal with an order of Baked French Onion Soup - " beef broth and caramelized onion baked with gruyere cheese ".
This was served with some extra bread for eventual dipping.
Time to taste.
I was so disappointed with the soup since it was overly salty even after I added the bread slices.
My main course was the Mexican Chili Burger - " classic hamburger topped with Howzat's world famous spicy chili con carne ".
The waitress asked me if I wanted French fries or British chips. I chose the latter and it was simply potato wedges.
Decorative salad to make the plate prettier.
The Mexican Chili Burger looked really appetizing and hefty.
Tastewise, the burger was delicious.
The skies had cleared already when I finished my burger so I proceeded to the Jupiter address of a voucher that I wanted to claim. The voucher entitled me to two cheesecakes from Cheesecake By Guy. I googled this dessert maker online and he had positive reviews.
I ordered the Ube and Queso de Bola Cheesecakes.
Somehow, I was expecting the cheesecakes to be bigger.
The Queso de Bola Cheesecake was just ok. Nothing special.
Same goes with the Ube Cheesecake. Underwhelming and uninteresting. Waste of calories and effort of picking up, really.
Cost Of Meal : 670.00 at Howzat Sports Bar; I purchased the vouchers for Cheesecake By Guy from www.cashcashpinoy.com for 300.00 each and was valued at the questionable original price of 600.00
